Dosage form
300 mg/3 ml/ampule
Dose
Adult : Initial dose : 150 mg/kg in 200 ml over 15 minutes
Second dose : 50 mg/kg in 500 ml over 4 hours
Third dose : 100 mg/kg in 1000 ml over 16 hours
Administration
Intermittent infusion, Continuous infusion
Intravenous Concentration
Intermittent infusion : drug 6 g to 14 g should be diluted to 200 ml
Continuous infusion : drug 2 g to 10 g should be diluted in 500 to 1000 ml
Intravenous Rate
Intermittent infusion : infuse over 15 minutes
Continuous infusion : infuse over 4 to 16 hours

Adverse effect
Anaphylactoid reactions (bronchospasm, respiratory distress, cardiovascular collapse, death), dizziness, facial flushing, nausea, vomiting, rash, urticaria, hypokalaemia, electrocardiograph changes, angioedema, hypotension, thrombocytopenia
Precaution
Check for hypersensitivity to acetylcysteine before administration. Administer with caution to patients with a history of asthma or atopy. Cease the infusion if an anaphylactoid reaction occurs.
