Indication
Sensitive bacterial infections including gram-positive, gram-negative aerobic and some anaerobic organisms.
Dosage form
250 mg, 500 mg, 1 gram/vial
Dose
Adult: 1 to 2 grams every 12 or 24 hours
Maximum recommended daily dose 4 grams.
Child: 30 mg/kg/dose every 12 or 24 hours Meningitis: 25 to 50 mg/kg/dose every 12 to 24 hours. Maximum recommended daily dose 2 grams.

IV: Bolus, Intermittent infusion, IM
Intravenous Concentration
Bolus: Up to 1 gram : 50 to 100 mg per mL.
Intermittent Infusion: 2 grams in 40 to 50 mL.
Intravenous Rate
Bolus: Up to 1 gram: inject over 2 to 4 minutes.
Intermittent Infusion: 2 grams infused over 15 to 30 minutes.
